BUNDESWEHR (BWI):

Client requirement

The Bundeswehr has a duty of care for over 180,000 soldiers who are equipped for the everyday life and deployment. An essential part of the equipment is the best possible fitting clothing in the form of different uniforms.

Until now, all soldiers were driven to one of the many service stations to be measured and fitted with the appropriate equipment. The manual measurements, fittings and the best possible selection on site required considerable time and personnel effort. In addition, an enormous stock of different equipment parts had to be kept. In addition to the high cost and time expenditure for the Bundeswehr, all soldiers lost several days without suitable equipment after the actual start of service until the completion of the fitting-out process.

ZUGSEIL.BEST

Our Solution

Size Recognition:

The aim of the innovative pilot project "BundesWear" was to digitalise and optimise the functions of Bundeswehr clothing management with ZUGSEIL.BEST. In particular, the focus was on potential improvements in the clothing processes. First, the test persons determined their current body mass via a mobile app. Subsequently, a size recognition system integrated in ZUGSEIL BEST was able to automatically assign the appropriate size for each product of clothing.

Both process steps are optimised with self-learning AI. With the correct clothing sizes, the test persons ordered their outfits without assistance via our integrated equipment assistant based on their unit-specific equipment profile. The fulfilment process was also simulated with ZUGSEIL.BEST and successfully implemented digitally, so that in one project the entire process chain from size recognition to delivery of the products to the front door or barracks was implemented.

Result

Without travel distance (i.e. without costs, time spent and environmental pollution) and with considerably reduced personnel costs, it was possible to realise an individual measurement with high fitting accuracy even before starting work. Digitisation with ZUGSEIL.BEST has sustainably optimised the entire fitting-out process. Future soldiers can be dressed appropriately for their entry into service without any loss of time. The proven procedure also makes it easy to remeasure and reorder existing equipment over time. Additional potential for efficiency lies in the reduced effort on all sides and the independent, decentralised measurement in the saving of service stations and the centralisation of services.

THIS IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER SAYS:

With ZUGSEIL to the Gold Medal

The cooperation with ZUGSEIL in the "BundesWear" project has produced excellent results. It has enabled us to win the single gold medal for the "Best Digitisation Project in Federal, State and Local Government" at the 21st eGovernment Competition in 2022.
